JCC Country Day Camp              (6-14 Years)

Monday, June 29-Friday, August 14

Sheldon Gitelman, MS, Director

Stacy Gentile, Camp Administrator

JCC Country Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for campers to grow through teamwork, new friendships, and a wide variety of programs that build skills and self-esteem. The first-class swim program meets twice daily to help each camper develop his/her swimming skills while learning water safety. Red Cross certification standards ensure that each child, regardless of ability, learns to swim at their own pace. Located on the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Pearl River, a short 20 minutes from Tarrytown, the campgrounds has three large swimming pools, a beautiful lake, hiking trails, and ball fields. It is the perfect setting for children to experience camping at its best.

Camp BaShemesh                      (Ages 6-14 with special needs)

Monday, June 29-Friday, August 14

Mindy Cohen, LMSW, Director

Camp BaShemesh begins its third summer of providing a unique inclusive summer experience for children with mild to moderate developmental and learning disabilities. In conjunction with the JCC Country Day Camp, at the Henry Kaufmann Campground (20 minutes from our Tarrytown site), Camp BaShemesh promotes independence and builds self-esteem, while strengthening each camper’s ability to develop relationships, work as a team, and learn new life skills.

Professionals experienced in special education working within a 3:1 camper to staff ratio, are deeply committed to making each child’s camping experience fun and successful. Learning and playing side by side with typical campers makes Camp BaShemesh an inclusive summer experience for all its campers and a stepping-stone to further growth.

Program support is provided by a grant from the Westchester Program Services Cabinet of UJA-Federation of New York.
