Perform-a-thon
Students are invited to
participate in a NYSSMA-like festival. To complete each level, students
are required to show proficiency in scales, theory and performance of a
selected piece. Students will be awarded certificates of completion. A
list of requirements can be obtained from individual instructors.

Arts in February Performance Camp
(Grades K-8)
Performance
oriented intensive one-week theater camp. Daily rehearsals,
dance and art classes are dedicated to creating numbers for
the Sunday afternoon performance for parents and friends.
Campers work in small groups on all aspects of the
performance, mastering vocal and acting technique,
choreography, dialogue, and creating simple sets and
costumes. An experienced staff with extensive theater
background creates a professional and fun atmosphere that
kids enjoy.

method is based on the principle that young children can develop

coaches, musicians explore intermediate and advanced repertoire.
Sessions concentrate on interpretation, technique, sound production, and
sound quality. Master classes and performance opportunities will be
offered. Groups will be formed based on technical ability, repertoire
interest, and scheduling constraints. Existing groups are welcome.

A nurturing professional staff offers
theatrical performance training.
We provide an enjoyable learning
experience while instilling a respect for theatre and a professional
attitude. Our students develop skills while finding their own voice,
building composure and confidence for all their pursuits, not just those
in the world of theatre.
Fairy Tale
Theatre
(4-5 Years)
This class introduces acting,
characterization, and story telling in a fun, nurturing, and
age-appropriate environment. Using acting techniques, improv, and
pantomime, kids will play, laugh and have fun while learning to use
their bodies and voices onstage. Students will have the opportunity to
act out some of their favorite fairy tales, including “Hansel & Gretl,”
“Jack and the Beanstalk,” and “Rapunzel” to name just a few.
We will share our work with an invited audience during our final class.

Productions on Broadway (6-12
Years)
Students are trained in every aspect of
staging a professional musical theatre production. While rehearsing for
the show, which will be performed live onstage, students are encouraged
to abandon their inhibitions as they learn voice, movement, acting
technique, characterization, improv, mime, audition technique, and much
more! Students will go through the audition process and everyone will be
cast in an appropriate role chosen to stretch, challenge, and showcase
their individual unique talents.

Chamber ensemble

JCC Maccabi Artsfest is a premier arts and
Maccabi experience for Jewish teens, grades 8-12.
Participants choose an art specialty and take part in
performances and master classes. This annual summer
experience, held in selected communities throughout North
America, features a wide variety of social activities,
artists-in-residence who are at the top of their fields,
opening and closing events and performances, and community
service, while it strengthens bonds to Jewish heritage,
community, and Israel.
Art specialties have included: Rock/Pop
Bands, Dance/Choreography, Filmmaking, Visual Arts,
Jazz/World Music, Classical Music, Acting, Music Theatre,
Photography, Creative Writing, Costume Design, Vocal Music,
and Culinary Arts.
Our JCC sent its first delegation to the JCC
Maccabi ArtsFest in Minneapolis, Minnesota this August.
